OY! I keep forgetting... [Feb. 6th, 2008|09:06 am]
Furryness - Monster KnitAlong

indecisive_twit

...to post my sweet, sweet monsters onto the community!

I FINALLY overcame my stupid dpn fear & tackled this pattern.   It was FANTASTIC!!!  This pattern ROCKS!!!  Everyone I show these little guys to wants one!

The green fellow is named  His Furryness, Rupert C. (Chartreuse) Greenbum, Esquire.  Rupe's muticolored corhort's name is Madame Euginia R. (Rainbow) Greenebum, she's Rupert's wee sister.  You really can't see her colours very well, but she is a marvelously funky mixture of orange, fuschia, yellow & plum.  She will be leaving us soon to live with friends in North Carolina.

I knitted them both with Joann Sensations Angel Hair.  Their eyes are white felt with little snap-on black animal eyes & their mouths & teeth are (very sloppily) stitched on with Lion Brand Wool scraps (I think it gives them character! ;)  And as you can see, they don't have the little deelybobs because well, I'm lazy & just didn't want to make them!  I ended up just taking more Lion Brand Wool scraps, tying GIANT knots in them & then pulled them through with a yarn needle.  I am very pleased with the way they turned out.

THANK YOU HEATHER FOR THIS AMAZING PATTERN!!!    YOUR BRAINS ARE THE AWESOMEST!!!   <3  <3  <3  B

Finally finished! [Jan. 17th, 2008|07:17 pm]

I'm a little bit embarrassed. I posted last May with pictures of two unfinished monsters. Then I started two more. But I never finished any...until last night. I've finally finished one!!

Dahlia! She has legs, I swear. You just can't see them that well in the picture.

This weekend, I'm going to do something with my other three unfinished monsters. Like frog them all. I ran out of yarn for the purple one I posted here before and the first blue one, which looks like Dahlia but in different colors. The second blue one is for my sister. She picked out this really, really furry, BRIGHT blue yarn, but it was so furry that I couldn't really see the actual stitches, and I think I dropped a few when I was binding off, so it's coming apart from the top of its head. ROAR. I want more monsters. I will eventually remake them, I think.

Becky, aka The Knitting Barista, made these three monsters for her daughter's birthday weekend. These are for her friends to take home. How awesome is that? The smaller one, made from the Middle-Sized Monster pattern, is made with Noro Kureo Patora. The others are from the Furryness pattern.

Monster Connections on Ravelry [Oct. 10th, 2007|11:52 am]

I've noticed a few finished monsters up on Ravelry lately (mostly from the Middle-Sized Monster Pattern), and I thought I'd post some of the results here.

These are from Auntie Amanda Knits:

I love what Amanda did with the eye. They are legless, deedlybobless (hehe) and they have little felt wings. She made them for a friend who is having twins.

A back shot of Amanda's monsters, and a couple of others that I've found on Ravelry.Collapse )

New monsters joining the KAL [Sep. 6th, 2007|04:41 pm]

These were made by Kim, who says:
"I had so much fun knitting your monster pattern! Just thought you'd
like to see the results - these are monster sisters, one using your
pattern, the other an amigarumi hack. They are for my daughter who
is about to have a little sister."

I like the big fuzzy deedlybobs, and the fancy buttons are a nice touch. The crocheted one is super sweet!

Anyone else who doesn't have an LJ account but would like to have pictures of their monster creations posted can email me at rupestur AT yahoo DOT com.

Please leave a comment to show Kim the love :D

When I was emailing everyone the Furryness pattern, some of you said you'd like to know if and when I get an Etsy store.

Well, I now have my own shop. I'm super excited about it! If any of you are an Etsy junky like me, come check me out!

Also, I noticed the other day that the Craft: Blog had relisted the Furryness pattern. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but this community is the link listed for it. If you are here looking for the pattern, it can be found on my blog, under Monster Recipe.

I've posted the pattern for this lil guy on my blog. Other than the obvious difference of not being furry, it is very similar to the orginal pattern. It's made with worsted on size 3's. I hope you guys enjoy it, and if you make one post a photo, of course :D

In theory, it's to help boost my creativity. So far there isn't much, and probably nothing you guys haven't seen before, but I thought I'd give you the link so you can bookmark it if you like.
